چکیده

A microcell interference model termed the Nakagami m,/m, is introduced in this paper. The desired signal as well as the cochannel interferers are assumed to have Nakagami statistics but with different amounts of fading. A special case of this model is obtained when the desired signal has Nakagami statistics while the cochannel interferers are subject to Rayleigh fading. The probability density function of the signal-to-interference ratio in the Nakagami m,/m, model is derived. This model is also compared with a Rician/Rayleigh microcellular model. The Nakagami m,/m, model is chosen to investigate the microcellular systems because Nakagami distributions fit experimental data better than either Rayleigh or Rician distributions in many cases. Expressions for the outage probabilities in microcell systems are derived. Numerical results show that, compared to medium/large cell systems, the microcellular systems have a lower outage probability. The impact of diversity on the microcellular system is also studied. Both signal-to-noise plus interference ratio selection diversity and signal-plus-interference selection diversity are investigated and an improvement to the outage probability due to diversity is observed.

Bit Error Probabilities of Ncfsk and Dpsk Signals in Microcellular Mobile Radio Systems

Introduction: To extend the present mediumjlarge cell mobile radio systems [I] towards ubiquitous communications, the microcellular approach looks promising [Z]. A major problem in cellular radio systems, regardless of having micro or mediumflarge cell architecture, is the presence of cochannel interference because of frequency reuse. Extensive studies on the effects of cochannel interference i...

Performance of Microcellular Mobile Radio in a Cochannel Interference, Natural, and Man-Made Noise Environment

A model is developed for performance analysis of a microcellular digital mobile radio system with Rayleigh-faded cochannel interference, Gaussian noise, and narrow-band impulsive noise (Middleton’s Class A noise) using the differential phase shift keying modulation (DPSK) technique. The desired signal has been assumed to be Rician faded. The effects of selection diversity on the performance hav...

A Movable Safety Zone Scheme in Urban Fiber-Optic Microcellular Systems

We consider an urban fiber-optic microcellular system in which a cigar-shaped cell consists of several microzones with their own antenna sites connected to a central station through optical fibers. To increase the efficiency of radio resources and reduce unnecessary handoffs between microzones, we propose a movable safety zone scheme. A safety zone is a virtually guarded area that does not perm...

Spatial Outage Analysis in Cellular and Microcellular Networks

This paper presents a general interference model for arbitrary cellular and microcellular networks which enables a unified treatment of all mobile link reception environments, from purely noise limited to purely interference limited, as a function of the ratio of interference power to receiver noise power at a receiver. This ratio is denoted ‘INR’ and given the symbol . The model enables a simp...

An Integrated Propagation-Mobility Interference Model for Microcell Network Coverage Prediction

This paper presents a new interference model for microcellular networks which integrates radio propagation parameters and user terminal mobility. This model uses a parameter denoted the “interference to noise ratio” (INR) to obtain a simplified description of mobile link outage contours as a function of the location of the fixed and mobile radio ports. The INR is used to demonstrate that microc...
